So last night I finally succeeded in playing at our local Open Mic (the Saracens Head, Hertford). Run by Matt I had a graet time. The atmosphere was welcoming and supportive. I was along early so got to play the second slot, while the pub was still reasonably quiet - this suited me no end. Played 3 songs , and was well received, and got to do a second slot later in the evening when the pub was considerably more crowded.
The quality of the other musicians was outstanding ( I certainly felt like bottom of the bill.. ). But job done - now to find another one...
